Running a Bakery in The Sims 4 Get to Work

Learn to build and run a Bakery with high profits

Running a Bakery in The Sims 4 Get to Work is one of the most exciting things in this expansion pack. Learn how to run a Bakery with high profits, attract more customers to your store and how to build your own Bakery.

Let’s start with the skills you will need to level up a bit before you can start a Bakery shop.

What Skills should you level up to run your Bakery

The Baking skill is definitely a very useful skill of course. But with the cooking skill there are some nice cake recipes to create as well. If you choose to max the Baking skill you should level up your Gardening skill as well. You sometimes need to add ingredients to your pastries, especially on the ones unlocked on a higher Baking skill level. Recommended Skills to level up: Baking skill, Cooking skill, Gourmet Cooking skill and Gardening.

Objects for your Bakery Cash Register
Customers will gather around displays so don’t put the Cash Register next to a display.

Choosing the right objects for your Bakery

What are really the requirements to open up a Bakery in The Sims 4 Get to Work. I created a list of thing you need to build your Bakery. Try to create separate rooms for your Kitchen and your store to keep the customers away from your kitchen.

Store Objects

Most of the customers will hang out around the food or objects you are selling, try to create some room in between so they spread around in your Bakery. They will walk around the displays so make sure you have enough room around it and don’t place your Cash Register next to a display.

  • Cash Register
  • Refrigerated Display
  • Place to sit

Store Kitchen objects

When you take food with you from your home lot in your inventory you don’t need a kitchen but it is highly recommended. You’ll need several things in the kitchen when you want to bake on your retail lot. Don’t put any distractions around the counters like a Pot Rack, I found out my Sims is looking at it while cooking and this will pause the dish she was making.

  • Fridge
  • Stove
  • Sink
  • Counters
  • Cupcake Factory (optional)
  • Trashcan

Store Bathroom objects

Keep customers longer at your store by fulfilling their bladder needs. Create separate toilet stalls to prevent embarrassing moments.

  • Sink
  • Separate toilets

Place Decorations in your Bakery

Make use of the decorations that came in The Sims 4 Get to Work. Some of them give the store a greater appeal for the customers like the signs or decals. Look for objects with the description: Placing this object will help bring more customers to your store.

Create a Garden with Fruits and Vegetables

Some of the recipes require special ingredients to bake them. So it’s recommended to create a garden at home or at the Bakery. These are the ingredients you will need the most: Strawberries, Pears, Cherries, Potatoes and Carrots. The Strawberries are also needed to create a level 10 Lava Bundt Cake to get more profits.

Sell Baked Goods
Sell dishes in your Bakery like; Chocolate Soufflé, Lava Bundt Cake and Éclairs to make a lot of profit.

What are the best pastries to sell?

You can start out with baked goods that needs a low level Baking skill. This won’t get you much profit but it’s a start. When you level up with this skill, replace the lower level pastries with the higher levels. If you bake excellent quality food and add decorations on top of it will earn you more Simoleons for your bakery. Level 10 excellent quality food sells for 800 ~ 2200. When you have 1,500 Satisfaction Points you should buy the Marketable Trait to sell your baked good for more Simoleons. Sell dishes like; Chocolate Soufflé, Lava Bundt Cake (needs strawberry) and Éclairs (cupcake factory).

Tip: Using the restock option will cost a lot of money. Try baking as much pastries on your own so you get a huge profit from it.

Bake your pastries of excellent quality

You will have a better chance to get excellent quality pastries if you level up your Baking skill. This will help a lot to get more profit from your Bakery. When the pastry needs ingredients try to use ingredients that are also of excellent quality. You also have the option to decorate some of your baked goods to improve their quality.

Helping Customers
When you have a lot to sell but not enough customers, run an advertising campaign to lure more customers to your Bakery.

Manage and help Customers at your Bakery

When you are starting to have a successful Bakery, a lot of customers will walk in your retail business to purchase goods. Use retail interactions such as ‘greet customer’, ‘Ask about Price Range’ or ‘Discuss Shopping Preferences’. When they are ready to buy, customers will have a shopping cart above their head. First deal with the customers with the red shopping cart or else they will go home.

Let customers eat at your Bakery

There is a way to let your customers eat at your Bakery. Place your baked goods in a warming rack without putting the pastries on sale so customers can take a serving. You can see this as a tasting. If you want to do this it’s recommended that you hire an employee to clean up the dishes.

Bakery Warming Rack
Customers can get food from the Warming Rack so they can eat in your Bakery.

Get the customers out of the kitchen!

Don’t place items in the kitchen customers can use. But you will need a fridge in the kitchen so the best solutions is to place another fridge or 2 just outside of the kitchen area next to the kitchen entrance. Create a 2 door entrance to the kitchen so when a lost customer do walks in you will always have the option to take the other door.

  2. How do you get the sims to eat in your bakery , I didn’t get it oops.. Like eat them in your bakery, but make sure you get the money for it?

  3. Is there a way to download the bakery without the gallery? I cant buy the game just yet so I have a not so righteous copy of the game??

  4. To keep customers out of your kitchen, lock the kitchen door for everyone but employees and then allow access for the household.

  5. Thank you! buy cupcake factory at first is profitable. $300+ for a plate of cupcakes is not bad when starting a new bakery. and you don’t have to restock it! just bake it again!

  6. I think these are really great tips but i also think that you should have a small area where the your sims can go to relax or go on the computer. Mine is a very small but comfartable study and it works great for my sim! also thanks for the tips!

  7. Okay but how do I put the items my sims baked out for sale??
Or how do I put them in those little glass display cases, and then people can buy them from there?

  8. When I put items into the heaters and coolers, sims never buy from there. They only buy from the glass display case. Is this a problem, or is it just my game?

  9. just wanted to give you a heads up — you can lock the kitchen door to ‘everyone but employees’ so you don’t have to worry about customers getting back there. you can also put a gate to the behind-the-counter space and lock that to ‘everyone but employees’!

  10. You can lock the doors just for your sim if you don’t want your workers getting into your kitchen. Click on the kitchen door, get to the lock options, and hit “Lock for everyone but (sim first name)”.
    🙂

  11. I am curently owning a bakery, but the customers wont buy any thing! I get the notification saying that the customers are ready to be rung up, but it doesn’t give me the option! Is this common or is it just me 🙁
