Herbalism Skill in The Sims 4
(Requires The Sims 4 Outdoor Retreat)
The Herbalism Skill is only available when you have The Sims 4 Outdoor Retreat. You can start with this skill by going on vacation in Granite Falls. You can’t find most of the ingredients anywhere else so you have to collect everything here.
This is a great skill to train in The Sims 4 because it has a lot of benefits for your Sims. My personal favorite is the Elixir of Fertility that will increase the chance of having twins or triplets for pregnant Sims.
Level up your Herbalism Skill
There are 3 ways to level up your Herbalism Skill:
- Brewing Potions
These will give the most experience to level up your skill. - Identifying Plants
This will give you little experience. - Read a book about Herbalism
You can buy 3 volumes of Herbalism books at a bookcase or at the Ranger Station (Ranger Station is a small house located in the middle near the large statue)
The herbs will show up as unidentified wild plants. Start by collecting and identifying a lot of plants/herbs so you can brew a large batch of potions after. You will be able to identify all plants when you reach level 5 of the Herbalism Skill.
Collecting ingredients for potions
You need to collect different Plants and different Insects to create the potions. Most Herbs are easy to find but if you need plants you will have to start Gardening. Insects are the hardest ingredients to find. Most will spawn random and some only spawns in specific area’s or at night.

I was wondering what the Natural Herbicide Oil did. Thanks for the info.
I cant find the False mushroom, can someone please tell me where it is? I’ve searched all over the national park and I just cannot find it.
Look around the Hermits house. I found some around there. I found loads in the National Park; maybe you’re mixing them up with regular mushrooms.
There’s actually only one book about herbalism to buy at the ranger’s store.
