Upcoming Update includes Firefighters, Ladders & even more!

Presented by EA Game Changers

When there’s a new pack coming it’s always interesting to see what is included in the pre-expansion patch. These patches are made to make sure the new content will run smoothly, but they often contain amazing new (and free) content for a better overall experience of the game. And believe me, this patch will not let you down! The patch is set to release for all platforms (consoles too) on June 2nd, 2020.

Great quality of life updates for Build & Buy mode

Let’s have a look at the Build & Buy mode section of this update first. The upcoming patch includes a whopping THREE new features for builders.

Ladders can be placed inside and outside the house.

Step one: Ladders

Since The Sims 4 Island Living came out Simmers have been highly anticipating the coming of ladders to the game. We are happy to announce that the upcoming patch will include said ladders and (in my opinion) they are better than expected. The ladders will be a very useful addition for the upcoming climb-it change of The Sims 4 Eco Lifestyle.

Ladders can be build multiple stories high, saving a lot of space; perfect for Simmers who love to play around with Tiny Houses. Depending on the path you leave available to your Sims, it will be possible to get off the ladder to multiple sides. Example: If you place an object left of the stairs, but leave the other sides open, your Sims will be able to get off on either the front or the right side of the stairs.

Freely place Windows AND Doors!

Yes, you read that right. Builders will get even more freedom to play around with. By holding alt you can place windows and doors anywhere you’ll like! Quarter tiles, half tiles, your creativity is your limit.

Off the Grid gets better

If you ever played around with the Off the Grid trait on your lot, you will know how frustrating it is to place an oil lamp to then figure out later that it’s all a scam: the sucker runs on electricity! How dare he…?! ..it..? Anyhoooo… I’m here to tell you that these struggles will be finally behind us!

All Off the Grid items will now be available in their very own category in Buy Mode, making it easier to navigate through the different objects that will allow you to properly play with the Off the Grid feature. And to make it even easier, there will be new Styled Rooms available that will be completely Off the Grid as well. Just pop them on your lot, and you’re ready to play!

New NPC’s and UI changes

The patch does not only include amazing quality of life content for Build & Buy mode, but for the Gameplay of The Sims 4 as well. We are getting not one, but two new non playable characters AND two huge updates to the user interface.

Firefighters are here to save the day

Are you sick and tired of your Sims always putting their stuff on fire when you weren’t watching for two seconds? No worries! Firefighters will now show up automatically and save your clumsy Sims from certain death, provided you placed a fire alarm of course. If you forgot to place an alarm, let’s face it: it happened to the best of us, you can call them as a service on your phone.

You can also call them as a prank, but you might get fined if they show up and there’s nothing to do. However, this doesn’t mean your Sims will be fined if you handled the fire by yourself before firefighters arrive. Unfortunately your fire-extinguishing-talented Sims will NOT be able to join any firefighter careers as of yet. If this career path will be available in the future is not clear.

Firefighters, as seen in last night’s livestream.

And Repo Man is here to save the pay…ments?

Is it a bird? No! Is it a plane? No! It is… REPO MAN! Yup, this unpleasant NPC is returning to The Sims. Whether or not this is a good thing is for you to decide.Too many bills piled up in your mailbox? You’ll get a visit from the repo man. He will take stuff from your lot to settle the payment. Hide your toilets, people! This man is relentless.

A whole new Billing UI

The billing system of The Sims 4 is getting a new update as well. Want to know if it pays off to turn the lights off at night? And why is this shower so expensive to have? Now you can crunch the numbers a little bit easier with an in-depth Billing system. Adulting never felt so easy!

Quality of life Inventory update

This patch is full of quality of life changes for The Sims 4, and the new inventory update is one of them. You can now filter your inventory, making it less of a hot mess and more of an organized beauty. Filter through your collectibles, crafting reagents etc. to find what you were looking for in record speed.
