As you all know The Sims Freeplay is no longer supporting these seven countries China, Saudi Arabia, UAE, Oma, Kuwait, Qatar and Egypt. This will be taking place on 5th July 2018.
EA_Mai, the Community Manager at EA Answers HQ had this to say:
Simmers,
We’ve always been proud that our in-game experiences embrace values as broad and diverse as our incredible Sims community. This has been important to us, as we know it is to you.
In light of regional standards, starting 5th July, 2018, The Sims FreePlay will no longer be made available in the following storefronts:
- China
- Saudi Arabia
- UAE
- Oman
- Kuwait
- Qatar
- Egypt
You can keep playing after this date if you already have The Sims FreePlay installed on your mobile device, but further updates or purchases will not be available. Since we won’t be updating, the game could stop working at a later date. If you delete the game or switch to a new device, the game won’t be available to download.
We appreciate your support. Please be sure to download the latest update today to keep creating your story.
Thanks for playing!
The Sims FreePlay Team
It seems that the main reason why they are no longer supporting these countries are because of their religious views on LGBT+ people. This can be a very big problem for the game since it allows you to create a sim with any genders or sexualities, and You may be asking why this could affect The Sims Series as a whole but the simple answer is mostly all The Sims games allow you play with LGBT+ Sims.
Since we are seeing The Sims Freeplay being plugged from these countries we may be seeing The Sims Mobile being plugged from these countries due to this game also allowing players to form same-sex relationships. And also even the main titles since this offers even more diverse ways of creating Sims and shaping their lives and love lives. Also, @TheSimsRU also announced that The Sims Mobile is not available on Google Play or the App Store since Russia thinks is inappropriate for minors since they can play with LGBT+ Sims.
Ever since the Gender Customization Update was released back in June 2016 many countries like Russia have moved their rating of the game up to an 18 rating due to the games LGBT+ content.
I guess only time we will tell. We will let you guys know if any more games or countries are taking off The Sims Freeplay’s list.
So sad to hear that, I’m from the UAE and I’ve been playing The sims for so long but I don’t mind the lgbt+ features in the game I actually support it
